Frequently Asked Questions
Do you care for any type of animal?Yes! I grew up caring for animals of all kinds- from dogs and cats to birds, fish, rodents, and even farm animals. While studying to become a veterinary technician, I gained hands-on experience with a wide variety of species and developed a strong understanding of animal behavior, handling techniques, health monitoring, and basic medical care. If you have a pet that isn't a dog or cat, feel free to reach out to discuss their specific needs!
Are you registered and insured?Yes! I am fully insured and bonded through Business Insurers of the Carolinas, have passed a third-party background check, and am registered with the State of Ohio as an LLC. These measures help provide peace of mind and ensure that I operate my business professionally and responsibly.
What makes you different? While many pet care providers love animals, I bring a professional veterinary background to every visit. With five years of experience as a Registered Veterinary Technician, I have extensive knowledge of animal behavior, health monitoring, medication administration, and recognizing signs that something may be wrong.
I am also a member of Pet Sitters International (PSI), the world's leading educational association for professional pet sitters. Through PSI, I have access to continuing education opportunities and commit to upholding high standards of professionalism, ethical business practices, and quality pet care.
My goal is to provide more than just pet sitting- I strive to offer knowledgeable, reliable, and professional care that gives both pets and their owners peace of mind.
Do you require a meeting before booking?Yes. A complimentary New Client Consultation is required before any services are provided. This allows us to get to know one another, discuss your pet's routine and care needs, review important information and policies, and ensure everyone feels comfortable before services begin.
Will I receive updates while I'm away?Absolutely! I know every pet parent has different communication preferences. You'll receive detailed updates and photos so you can stay connected and have peace of mind while you're away. For longer bookings, update frequency can be tailored to your preferences, whether you'd like frequent check-ins and lots of pictures or prefer occasional updates so you can unplug and enjoy your time away.
Do you require a deposit to secure services?Yes. A deposit of at least 50% of the total cost of services is required to reserve your dates and secure your booking. The remaining balance is due no later than 72 hours before services begin. Deposits are applied toward the total cost of services and help ensure availability for all clients. Bookings are not considered confirmed until the required deposit has been received.
Can you care for senior pets or pets with medical needs?Absolutely. With my experience as a Registered Veterinary Technician, I am comfortable caring for senior pets and many pets with medical or special needs. I have experience administering a variety of medications and understand the importance of closely following care instructions, maintaining routines, and monitoring for changes in your pet's condition.
What is your cancellation policy?I understand that plans can change! Cancellations made more than 72 hours before the scheduled start of services may be eligible for a refund or account credit. Cancellations made within 72 hours of the scheduled start time are non-refundable, as that time has been reserved exclusively for your pet and may not be able to be filled on short notice. Exceptions may be made in the event of emergencies or other unforeseen circumstances at the sole discretion of Birch Hollow Pet Care.
What happens if my pet becomes ill or has an emergency?Your pet's safety and well-being always come first. If your pet becomes ill or experiences an emergency while in my care, I will make every reasonable effort to contact you and your emergency contact while taking appropriate action based on the situation. If veterinary attention is needed, I will seek care from your preferred veterinarian or the nearest emergency clinic. My veterinary experience allow me to recognize concerning changes quickly and respond calmly and confidently while keeping you informed throughout the process.
